Space is Not Negative
Bloore took two swings at black maquettes. The first few, in 1973-4, used the current painting techniques which involved layering up oil paints and then scraping, wiping and sanding, with black laquer as a top coat.
The second occasion was in the earlyl '80's when he applied the masking tapes he had been using on bare paper with sumi ink to mini panels prepared with white oil paint and topped with black.
